Yet you have a thread going on right now talking about how you want to jump ship where you're at.
How much have you made the last couple weeks on your .50 per mile? -
How is it companies like CR England, Celadon, CRST, and etc. are able to pay students pennies while getting government subsidies? Is this legal? I've been a trucker since May 2012, I know I'm a youngster but I started with Celadon. They were paying us pennies after school and seemed like forever to commit to there contract before I could move on. Later, I found out these companies where getting subsidies from the governm

Government. How was that legal? Woukdnt that be considered double dipping in a sense
Big Herb The Trucker Thanks this. -
You maybe aware that certain government contracts require companies to pay a certain wage per hr. Well how come they won't do the same for these companies who pay there students/new drivers pennies per mile, who receive government subsidies? When i worked as a new driver for Celadon ppl at McDonald's got paid better. Why would anyone want to be a trucker? We run this would but get overlooked often. Everything we pretty much see or have came from a trucker.
Big Herb The Trucker Thanks this. -
Because the Big Trucking Megas have gotten together, (organized, if you will) and they have lobbied congress over the past few decades to make themselves totally exempt from the FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act) which every other non transportation company is subject to.
This means that, in trucking (specifically drivers), any company can pay their drivers literally any wage that they choose...that is, as long as the drivers remain ignorant and accept whatever is given to them.Agreatsource, Big Herb The Trucker and The Big T Thank this. -

The pay is 40 cent loaded and 30 unloaded. I think it was 7 months with a trainer riding with you and the trainer doesn't drive he or she watches and helps. To insure you learn. You start off doing the regional home for Saturday and Sunday to start. After training you can choose what you want to do. And you train on a manual transmission truck that's older.
