Hello folks,
I have been truckin for nearly 30 years for a small outfit. They are closing the doors due to current economics and I still need to run. I have been hauling cattle for most of my time (large car), with a few years on reefer, throughout the 11 western states, with a ton of mountion and snow country experience.
Im asking you all for advise on where I should go from here. Like I said I do have the refer exp, and a plethora of high country and snow time, and truly love running the mountion west. But due to my age, my ego, im not real excited about participating in a truck driving school. Any ideas ?
Respectfully
Old hand ( new to looking for a job)

You might want to try Western Distribution out of Denver CO, They are a reefer company they have nice equipment, but like you mentioned due to the economy they might be slow be in there hirring process.
Best Of Luck -
Check out Craiglist for transport jobs in your part of Ca.
I see that Bhandal Brothers Trucking has an ad there. -

If you are looking for a large car ride, with little hassles, Western Dist. is the way to go. They would love a guy like you. You would be running all 48 though, if that is a problem.
You might also try Schulz out of Lincoln,NE. They run mainly Nebraska to California and back. I don't know if they hire in California, but it would be worth a shot.
You might also try Dick Bellerud out of Fargo,ND. They have nice large units and I'm sure they might have something to offer you staying west.
There were also alot of those type companies based in Denver and also Salt Lake, but I haven't seen their trucks in awhile, so I won't mention them. I don't know if they have survived the past few years worth of economics.
I'll think about this for a little bit. I know alot of the "large car" companies, but not sure about staying west coast. Most of the ones I know are either east or southeast based, or they run all 48. -
Thanks Eskimo for the reply. Yeah I heard about Bhandal Brothers and their IRS problems. They also have some cousins out here that are in the same boat (tongue in cheek).
Western is a darn good company and I have been looking into them, but I think I want to stay west of the river. I know I sound picky, but I just figured at this point in my life I can afford to be. I will check out those other outfits out you pointed to. Im not affraid to run, just want to find an outfit I can run with my head held high. Thanks again.

Can I get a link to the Bhandal IRS problems? I just applied there, drug tested, and have all but been straight up offered a job..... I would like to research this issue before I make a choice. I've searched this forum for Bhandal Brothers but all that comes up is this post. Does someone have a link please?

I found some troubling issues with Lasher Brothers Trucking. Are these the "cousins"?
