I hear him in the mornings in Va. Beach. He's been talking about his FB page. He does some kind of photography evidently. Found this thread while trying to find out what he's running that sounds so good.

I've been owning Virginia, Souh Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and some northeast states the last few days especially on channel 28. The weather comes through here first so I get ahead of it, then I catch the tail end of it. I actually started feeling bad for some stations in NC,SC and VA so I stopped talking for a while so they could make some contacts. A station named 25 in Columbia, SC told me I was owning the channel all day. Conditions definitely make a big difference.

What kind of setup are you running? On a mobile?

Galaxy Saturn, IMAX 2000 ten feet off the ground, and a 100 amp power supply for other things. I don't do well locally because of how low it is, but it DX's great.

My N4 does very well on sideband. I can get my numbers called back practically every time I key the mic. Even made contact with a station in Turkey on 27.380 yesterday.
I don't seem to have enough power or antenna to play on AM though.rabbiporkchop and shogun Thank this. -
I'm definitely not lacking in power, but height restriction is an issue with covenants. I've actually got mine on a tilt over base, so I stand it up and talk local, skip etc, then I lay it back down. I'm not bleeding on anybody although I occasionally mess up our satellite depending on the frequency. I plan on getting a common mode choke to fix it since I've got no counterpoise and the coax radiates.
I'm most impressed with this power supply I bought last week. It's adjustable up to 17.1 volts, it's super quiet and the fan rarely kicks on in spite of talking awhile. I do keep my deadkey low to not draw a lot of amps, and I run it about 15 volts too. For $180 on amazon, I'm impressed, considering what 100 amp supplies go for.lilillill Thanks this. -
Got a link for the power supply?
