How do I get contracts as an owner operator?

I am an owner operator with my own authority and I have two trucks and 2 other owner/operator who work for me but I am currently working as a contractor for company (the company has large port contracts). How do I move from working under the company as a contractor to getting my own contracts on the port? I know I have to join the UIIA, I have already looked it up but how do I get my own contracts?

 

As a 1 man 1 truck operation, I don't know if you want to sign a contract. There are more things that can go wrong than right. And you'll be on the hook for it (lawsuit). Just get loads off the loadboard. That way nobody owns you.

 

wrong place to get real answers most people here are trolls, know it all's and then theres people who are looking for answers to questions. you'll know when you get a real answer to a question on here. people find your question and respond with nothing to offer. I'm responding because I'm looking for answers to the same question you asked the guy stayinback was the only person who attempted to answer.
