So I decided to ride along with my husband for first time. He was at DC so I met up with him to ride along on his last day. Ended up 11 miles from DC and run out of time. They have no one to come get us. They always run close but say they'll come get you. But now they aren't. And of course it's when I'm with him. And now I have to make arrangements for our kids at home who expected us home tonight. As much as I love Walmart, this is NOT cool.
Walmart here I come!

i ran out of time last night in a 5/2 assigned tractor. del to a nhm with pallet reload back to dc and ran out of 14. had to break and drive in this am. driver missed his gate time by almost 2 hours

i cant wait to start me 5/2-5/3. no more slip or extra. i dont mine slipping but when i do my days suck on pay.

On your go home day you give less hours on your 11 then you actually have. This will ensure you get back in time. The computer only calculates drive time, not on your 14 you have left. Some days you might have 4 hours left on your drive but only 2 on your 14. It won't calculate the time spent waiting for a load or time to hook and drop.slim6596 and georgear1084 Thank this.

I mentioned to my coordinator that the eta macro needs to add a field of "time you run out of hours" so the computer will make sure you don't run over the 14. Lot of days I will run out of hours at 18:00 and at 11am I'll have 7 hours I'll put in my 11 box and I will get loads that will want to run me past 21:00.
She said that's a good idea and to bring it up at the grass roots meeting. -
i had time to do the 2 nhm stops but came up on a accident that shuts the big road down. that killed my 14

Do you use Google maps with traffic turned on? Saved me many times. I always look at my route before I leave and if I see an accident I'll go around it. Driving in chicago we have accidents every day. Sometimes I'll go an extra 20 miles out of route to save 1-2 hours of driving.

This is what I have been saying. Show less than you have on your go home day and you can't run out of time.Ironhead2542 Thanks this.

Also I try to get back to the DC on my go home day with at least 2 hours on my 14 to allow me to clean out my truck while being on duty.
georgear1084 Thanks this. -
Example - tomorrow is my go home day. I get a load 120 miles with 45min left on my 14 for today. I'll pick up load and drive to the nearest truck stop and break. I know I'll use 2 hours to get there tomorrow which leaves me with 9 hours on my drive. I'll send etd of 6 on my drive which will usually get me back with 2 left on my 14
BackIsSore Thanks this.
