Was going through some old buildings and we found these in a box. Can anyone tell me if we are looking at paperweights here or should I do something with them?

i dunno, i was told at one time, the old 23 channel cb's were better than the 40 channels.

i'd clean them up, test them for tx and rx and maybe sell them. there should be radio clubs that may want them. even broken down, they can fix'em

i had a 23 channel Johnson Viking, wish i still had it..!!!!

eBay has a boat load of them some not working, for sale

I always thought too the older radios were better because of better components and such...But a famous tech told me the reason the older radios seemed better was because back in the days there weren't as much cb traffic and rf to mess with the frequencies....made sense to me...he also said most of the time you can get a better tune out of a newer radio.

Sawmill, the only 2 I reconize are the top 2.. Lafayette, and the pace. Try hooking them up see if any work, and put on eBay..Who knows a collector might be interested.

In the mid 70's before 40 channels, ALL 23 channels were so jam'ed with traffic you couldn't hardly get a word in inch-wise! Problem with those old 23 channel radios (besides not being able to go to channel 28) is the parts inside are going to be so dried out by now, to get one to talk decent you would need to replace all the caps, and other parts they may not be worth saving...BUT! IF THEY WORK, and you don't have to spend any money on them, then either keep them to talk on, or maybe stick'em on eBay and sell them...Probably won't get much for them, but if they didn't cost you anything to start with, whatever you get out of the would be a profit!

I guess the Dimension is some kind of Business Band radio. I never heard of those, before. The one right under it looks like an old Midland I put in my Mom's car for her back in about 1982 or 83. The metering and indicators on top of the front panel were kind of cool.

For some reason super techs are the ignorant ones who can't look up mods or understand the circuitry to fix older radios. There is a lot less traffic on CB bands today then when those radios were made - a lot less.

Being blunt, if they work, use them. They may need to be tuned up right but not peak and tune. Most of the time the older radios are better, they have more quality built into them.

The radios will only fetch about $15 on eBay if they work unless a collector sees one they can't live without. The Lafayette might be a winner. I picked up a Hummingbird Marine radio for $14 on eBay, seller had it listed as a CB.
