No upfront pay. Some companies will advance some of the pay for fuel etc, for a fee of course. I don't need any of that.

Yes, I correspond via email, including receipt of rate confirmations, etc.

There are plenty of people on here with a lot more exp. than I, feel free to make a post of any questions you have. Someone will have an answer.

    Good Luck!

EDIT: Sorry after rereading that, it looks like I'm telling you to bugger off. Wasn't my intention. You can send me a msg if you have a specific question that you think I can answer.

I would definitely not see loadboards as a cuttable expense as an independent O/O. You need either DAT or IT. There is 0% chance that either one won't pay for its monthly fee at least weekly. That's why their prices seem to be headed up not down... It's a crazy value. For a trucking company one is fine, as most loads are posted in both places.

Free load boards offered by freight brokerages are a thing, but how do you know the rates they are paying are close to fair? You need to check the public load board for that. Heck the 'free' loadboards out there that pull data from IT and DAT are worthless because they lag behind the real money sites by at least a few minutes. A few minutes is way more time than it takes for a good load to get snatched up. Missing 2-3 good loads a month= missing 1-2k at least.

if your ever north of the border looking for a freight load board in & out of the USA/Canada, check out www.go99.com. Apparently they connect you directly with shippers that post freight at very decent line haul rates.
