The total solar eclipse of June 8, 1918 crossed the United States from Washington State to Florida. This path is roughly similar to the August 21, 2017 total solar eclipse and was the last time totality crossed the nation from the Pacific to the Atlantic.
After August 21, 2017, the next total solar eclipse over North America visits Mexico, the United States, and Canada on April 8, 2024.

You obviously bought acid from the wrong dealer...

IMHO it is a big deal. After all, didn't it say in Genesis that the stars and planets were put there as "signs and wonders"?
My experience with the total eclipse in 1979 was certainly a memorable experience. I already let my dispatch know I have dibs on any load to Casper on that date. If they don't have a load I will find my own on a load board.trucker3205 and bzinger Thank this. -
Its going to be cloudy that day.....
-
seriously, there's been mote than I care to count since the '90's.

LOL @Lepton1, I love you brother but who got the bad acid?BoostedTeg, MJ1657 and Lepton1 Thank this. -
Three friends of mine watched the eclipse in eastern Oregon after dropping acid. They saw "things" that made them understand why ancient people feared an eclipse.snowwy, tucker and Roberts450 Thank this.
-
Now be honest, were those three friends real, or the product of an acid trip of your own?Lepton1 and Steel Dragon Thank this.

Your confusing eclipse types. Total solar eclipses are very rare.
Your probably thinking of a lunar eclipse, a partial solar eclipse, or probably a annular eclipse although those usually require special filters to see them.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
Its supposed to turn pitch black, stars out and everything... for 2 minutes. You likely saw a partial eclipse.
-
Well if a big black dot in the middle of the sun with a light ring around it is not a total eclipse then maybe notrank Thanks this.
-
Definately not lunar that I saw ~20 years ago. Might have been partial solar. What is annular?
