This is from their ad in Tucson,AZ:
Owner Operators & Lease Purchase NEEDED ASAP!!!
"If you don’t have a truck and want to be an Owner Operator, we have you covered! We understand there are lots of great drivers out there that want to be their own boss but don’t have the 20% down to give a bank to buy a new truck. That’s why we have a ZERO DOWN, NO CREDIT CHECK plan for you. We can get you into a 0-5 year old truck with factory warranty as long as you qualify for our company. In order to qualify you need 1 year OTR verifiable driving experience and an acceptable driving record. All operators will be considered - the freight is picking up and we need to build our capacity to satisfy our customers' needs. Give us a call!"

Maybe they have a 3rd party that has trucks? Like a quality leasing deal. Or they underwrite a truck for you?

Seems like it. If they let you choose the truck from a large selection, that's even better.
Best truck I ever drove was a Volvo with Volvo engine and Volvo auto transmission. Didn't have an APU though. It was a midroof set up for tankers. I'd insist on a Tripac APU.

I would be very wary of a company looking for owner ops in Bad Axe. There is a company well mentioned in these forums. Are they the same company? No idea. Just search Bad Axe, MI.

According to there Facebook page there trucks say GreatWide on the side. So basically, instead of leasing your truck to GreatWide. You can lease your truck to GreatWide....through them. ?

    Security Check Required

It says as long as you qualify for our company you get a lease truck. Sounds like Quality leasing to me.

    Anyway, Be safe out there.

I worked for a company and Greatwide took over the transportation department. I remained a company driver for Greatwide, but most of the other drivers took them up on the owner-operator program. They all did well except those that bought a junker truck thinking they could make more money; they didn't survive and had to upgrade to a newer truck, then they did ok.

Don't get me wrong, I almost put my truck on with them once, I don't think they are a bad company. The recruiter even gave me phone numbers for a few agents who all seemed like good folks.

I would go with their central dispatch though, versus signing on through an agent, just seemed to me that it gives you more options.

When I read these ads for Owner Ops and it turns out to be an agent signing on for a large carrier thing. I just can't help but get a bad feeling, especially when they seem to hide the fact of whose name is going on the truck. I have seen a Landstar agent advertising a similar deal lately. If you want to run for Greatwide, then use all there agents.

    Just my humble opinion.

Wiçkedfire77 question. Did you get to remove their camera once you got your title? What about the EDL?

I'm not quite in the market for a new truck right now anyways. I'll invest a little more into this one and maybe down the road I'll think about buying newer.

BBQ was fun. Big turnout. Now I'm exhausted and will go back on the road tomorrow
