We quit shopping at walmart a year ago. I think we save money by not going there.

I agree, I don't see any difference in their prices at all. I usually go to Meijers and do pretty well cost wise.

we shop at walmart... their food prices are lower than Scotts/Kroger but i think Meijer is even cheaper but its ALOT farther away, in fact we'd pass a Walmart on the way, kind of annoying since Meijer has a much better selection of foods imo..

I don't shop at Walmart for food most of the time, as a local grocery chain beats them on prices on just about everything.

I do shop there for some other things, as there really aren't that many other options around here for lower priced stuff. We don't have Toys R Us here anymore, and the only other store chains similar are Target (which I shop at as well) and Shopko, which has gone down hill over the years.

So "toys" are considered "vital to the holiday season"?

Not to mention the MoM&PoP stores.

There's a reason why Wal*Mart prices aren't as inexpensive as the other food stores, --- and it isn't out of the goodness of their heart, but rather force from the unions.

    See above.

Guess who y'all can thank for that?

    Who said Wal*Mart?

Yeah, I could save some money by shopping at Wal-Mart, but I'd rather save the smaller main street stores that provide real customer service.

Guess that's from livin' in the same community into which I was born. I know these folks who own the little businesses, and I kinda like havin' them around. I like the "feel" of community, and I just don't get it at Wal-Mart.

    AfterShock Thanks this.

OK, I'll be odd man out here. (Not unusual, I know.) While I can't say that I enjoy shopping at Wal Mart, I certainly do enough of it. Actually, I don't enjoy shopping anywhere. But it is a necessary evil.

We have several supermarket chains in the area that I live in. They are all pretty good stores. Most of them have a decent selection. But they just can't keep their prices down like wally world does.

And when it comes to paper products, or drugstore type items, we don't have anything that comes even close to Wal Mart's lower prices.

So every couple of weeks, my better half and I load up and go to the nearest Wal Mart and stock up.

I won't buy clothing there. Their quality sucks. The clothes don't last are mis sized and just all around shabby looking after the first wash.

The only Meijer I've been to was higher than a cats back on prices.

If I remember right it was in Grand Rapids MI. Several yrs ago.
