I am not a truck driver, but I am interested in becoming one. I am 18 right now. I read somewhere that you have to be 21 to have a job that you drive out of state. Is that true?

Yes, that is true. In most states, you can get your CDL to drive ONLY within your home state at age 18, HAZMAT endorsement requires that you are 21. To drive with CDL outside of your home state, you MUST be 21 years old.

Some insurance companies won't take you until your 23, either. You may have to go with one of the bigger companies that takes younger drivers until your 23.

I have heard that you have to be at least 23 years old to drive truck; at least here in WA. state.

You have to be 21 to drive INTERstate, but many companies won't hire you until 23 or 25 because of their insurance. You can drive in-state (intrastate) before the age of 21.
