I noticed that myself. Did an oversize load once and stopped near Vegas for the night. Load was scheduled for delivery at 11am and if I waited until sunrise to leave I would be late as I was still about 6 hours away.I looked closer at Nevada and California permits and realized I could drive at night with my load on the roads I would be on so I left out about 4:30am while still dark and made it on time. 2 separate California weigh stations did not stop me to check if I had permits. I find that most places I do have stop at weigh stations when hauling an oversize load if only to check if I have a permit.

Did you have your required 24/7 conditions sheet ? And have the load lit?
As general rule California is not. It the pain that some other states are....cke Thanks this. -
California does have a lot of attachments that one might need.
They also have a permit manual, which is a webpage linking to a number of pages with the rules you must follow. Some of them seem pretty outdated, like it's a scan of a page that was done on a typewriter, nonetheless it's readable and you do need to know what's in the relevant parts.Airborne and Truckermania Thank this. -
I still wouldn't wamma go to Commifornia unless told to as a company driver but once I get at least a few years of company under my belt I plan on becomong an O/O and then I wouldn't have to even hit that state. To HELL with Commifonia then!!!!!Hegemeister Thanks this.

You need to just actually get some miles under your belt. Until then how bout you sit back and learn a bit.....
-
What exactly does he have to sit back and learn? It doesn't take a rocket scientists to understand that a state with CARB enforcement, a 55mph limit for trucks, and bad traffic isn't one that you want to visit on a regular basis, if ever.

In my 26 years driving I have only been a California 4 times. If it weren't for the money they offered me to go I would have no reason to cross the state line.
