If its been in collection 5 years just leave it there. The damage to your credit has already been done. Just my 2 cents. If you have been driving since 2012 and your license is clean, you should have no trouble doing whatever you can dream

I don't have any experience with this subject, but would think you could find work.If your planning on buying a truck and leasing it to a carrier they will verify past employment might hit a problem but think you will find a job.But if I'm reading your post right it looks like you quit driving in 2012 with just 8 months experience.that might be bigger problem if that's the case

Not true. Most places won't care. The only thing that will matter is that you have recent experience. If you have been out of driving since 2012 then your choices are limited to training or small companies.
Your old contract is simply a debt and does not affect your cdl status.
Also, don't mention your past contract when applying. List your crst employment for sure, but don't say anything about the old contract.
Just an FYI, CRuSTy is a vindictive outfit and will crap on you for any reason they can come up with.

Probably wouldn't because it's been so long since you've driven and only 8 months experience you would probably need to go through some sort of refresher course. And since you didn't fulfill the earlier contract I'm guessing the companies your applying to figure you won't fulfill there's either. If your thinking of buying a truck and leasing to a carrier you have to pass the same hiring qualifications as a company driver wouldLast edited: Aug 10, 2017

There is no law stopping you from buying a truck and make money with it because you breached the contract Buy a truck before they f.up your credit then make some money and pay them off or settle with them or a collection agency for a few pennies per dollar. Avoid megas at all costs. Being an owner op is the exact opposite of what they are. If you want to be rehired as a driver, aim at smaller fleets, they could not care less about your credit or CRST being sour at you. .rick_the ruler Thanks this.

If you've been out of the truck for that long....Have you kept your medical card current and sent a copy into your DMV? If not your CDL may be in limbo. New rule that popped up within the last few years.
I took a few years off to fight a personal illness and could NOT get in with anybody without taking a CDL refresher course. However, if you are your own company with your own truck that's a different story

Personally I would reccomend getting a couple years experience in as a company driver before taking the plunge.
