I've been to CA 2 times in the last month in my 6.5 years driving, and I feel like I'm going into another country. Going thru the boarder is like going thru customs.

100 miles into the desert, I can't exceed 55mph because that would cause pollution.

This right here is the proper answer. I'll gladly go to CA for a dedicated customer paying the right price. Not for some garbage off a load board.

I strongly disagree with this statement - but I am a giant Ahole. Oh, and my business model is based primarily hauling into and out if California.

I have to side with Ron, and disagree also. I live in CA, but my truck runs a MN plate. I run 62-63 regularly with no problems (but I hardly ever go over 68 out of state). Yes, Banning is a PIA because they leave you sitting on the freeway and it takes 20 minutes to get thru it. I keep my truck and trailer clean, I don't load the top of my dash up with #### that can be seen and I never have a problem here. As far as traffic, I don't find it any different than Dallas (referring to the Los Angeles area). The rest of the state is I-5 or 99 and basically it's just the LA and the SF Bay where traffic can be a headache (and that depends on how you schedule your entrance into the area), Sacramento not so much. Yes it does run a little slower than other states sometimes, but you know that and you figure it into your rate. If you don't get the rate, don't take the load. As far as CARB, yes I replaced a perfectly good '99 with a '12 because of it, but there are other states that are following in CARB's footsteps. It's only a matter of a few years before all of Fitzgerald's gliders will be history in my opinion. Folks have to realize that the time of the B model, NTC, NTA, ( hell, there might even be some K's still out there) and early Red Tops is getting short. Oh, and as far as scales go, I have more problems at Cortez And Madras than anywhere else.

But, that is your business model. If you were based in Florida would that be your business model? This all started with someone saying they had no desire to go to California, either as a company driver or O/O and someone else saying that the first person should "Sit back and learn a bit". Like there is some great wealth of knowledge to be gained by hauling in California.

Razororange, cke and MJ1657 Thank this.

Lots of guys wont haul to various parts of the country because they are black holes for freight or they just don't want to drive there.

And you are absolutely correct (don't every even start to mention New York City to me...And I've never been there! HA!). you expressed your opinion about CA and we expressed ours. Just letting the readers see both sides.....That is the best part about this forum.

My comment was very straight forward... The guy is commenting on stuff he has no idea about.... Hence sit back read and learn. Just because he read it doesn't mean he knows what's what. I have no idea about what laws or what are enforced in California. Haven't been there. Would I turn around and say no if I was

    A) sent there as a company driver? NO i would not. Because I am just paid to go where I am sent with what ever is loaded.

    B) Would I go there as an owner operator? If my truck was legal for it and the load paid well enough to make it worthwhile to go into an area renowned for high traffic and low possibilities of well paying return freight. No different to going into Jersey or New York...

The guy has barely a few months of driving under his belt. Hence sit back read and learn.....
