Give me a few good things and a few bad things. I've had the opportumity to read allot of the posts, but still not convinced that it is either a good nor a bad Company. Please elaborate. Thanks!!

Everyone has opinions, both good and bad about Werner. My advice, ask a driver that is still working for them. There's another lady on this forum. Her name is IROCUBABE. She and her husband worked for werner. talk to her. Good luck to you.

Well , Bug83 who started this thread has been MIA for almost 6 months but for what it's worth there is little security in dedicated retail accounts . If the contract is new you can count on a couple of years work . After that watch out your carrier doesn't get underbid . I've been on several of them . TJ MAXX often changes carriers . I also delivered to CVS in NE and Ames (bankrupt many years ago ) .

.26cpm is starting rate for a student for 48 States
.30cpm is starting rate for a student on Wal Mart Dedicated
.24cpm is starting rate for a student on TCU
Regional rates vary by region, as well as the family dollar accounts differ by region (I believe the Rome, NY pays better than the IA acct due to the fact your in the City every week)
Not too sure on other dedicated gigs, just know what my students make when they get off my truck if they keep in touch.

    The Bad -

    Dirt pay starting out.
Your first truck is probably going to be a POS (Just listen to the allentown/atlanta/dallas/fontana fleet assignment people for an afternoon talking to the drivers getting the new trucks)
Your Dispatcher - This is good and bad, If you have a bad relationship with your dispatcher right now, you're pretty hosed. They've cut down on there dispatch staffing. They have halved the size of the FMs on TCU
Trainers who don't want to do there job...and train you.

    The Good -

Late model equipment. Get 6 months to a year in and all of a sudden that peice of crap truck you've been driving is a lot better.
Dedicated oppurtunities - With the freight base the way it is right now, a dedicated gig will keep you moving, and keep food on your table.
    Dispatcher - See above
Paperless Logs - For a newbie, I see this as an advantage. It forces you to learn to plan your trips efficiently and manage your time, otherwise you're out the door or starving.

The bottom line is this company, like any other, is not for everyone. I'm happy here, I make pretty good money, and I enjoy my job. There are plenty of people here who hate it as well, make your own descision, get all the facts. On top of reading all the negative things you see here, talk to some current drivers at your local truck stop, we're not all as scary as some places would have you believe.

I'm curious... do company drivers on dedicated accounts get home more often or more regularly than standard OTR company drivers?

    Thanks!
