You can't pick your next job by best case scenarios. Unloading in 8 min.... I wouldn't say that's a regular offload time. Sandboxes do have a better turn time but usually have a lesser pay scale than pneumatics do. I agree with whoever said learning to run a pneumantic has carry over to other industries (fly ask, barite, cement, food grade) but the boxes really don't amount to much outside of oilfield other than for miles/years of service behind the wheel.

Guess what... if you pick a job you don't like after a few weeks you can quit and move onto the next one. No better experience than experience. You can search all day long on message boards but at the end of the day you just need to pull the pin and get rolling. Give er hell and keep us posted.

Very well said AC. I ended up passing up the job that strangely required zero certifications, and wanted to assist me in lying on my application. Just gave me a bad vibe, although to offer itself wasn't too bad compared to the others I have gotten. I also wasn't too hip on the yard being almost 4 hours from my house. Too much of a stretch for me currently, when there are several other companies hiring with yards that are much closer.

Don't be scared of the pneumatic. I pull one in the oilfield cept im on the cement side. From what my dad says sand is easier to unload. If i were you id go for the pneumatic. It looks better on your record.

And yes its normal oilfield practices to fudge a bit on your application

I hear ya, I've been watching videos and reading so I'm ahead of the game when I get out there. Got on with an outfit offering a much better deal than 2 I was previously looking at. I head to Odessa Monday.

I don't mind sharing, although I think I'll wait and give it a few days out there before I give my opinion/experience with them before I let the cat out of the bag. I only say that because I've been through the ringer with these frac jobs as far as trying to find a decent outfit to get with, and I'm feeling halfway positive about this place and you know how forums are, you post a name and in come mostly negative opinions and I have enough to think about right now outside of work, let alone second guessing my decision regarding employment lol.

I've done both sand boxes and pneumatic. I like pneumatic much better. The rate is a lot better and it gets me out of the truck for some exercise. Pulling a box is like, well..... pulling a box. Only time you need to get out is to flip the lid open or closed on the loading end. Makes ya feel like a useless steering wheel holder. Any old driver with any old truck can drag a box around. At least it takes a little skill and a little work to run a pneumatic day in and day out.

I just received my confirmation email as well as my offer for employment to start Monday. Although I like everything about the deal, and they offer some things that most of the others didn't, there is one thing I just found out about. Apparently their beard policy is "mustache only" now I know that it's really a trivial deal in the end but I'm 29 going on 30 and I've had a beard or some form of facial hair since I was 17 so it's a bit of deal for me. I'm not a "mustache only" kind of guy, as I just can't pull that look off, so being clean shaven would probably have me looking like a child.

By the way I'm going to go ahead and share the company name in case anyone can share some insight. The name is FDF, Francis Drilling Fluids.

Lying? Embellishing? Creating a story where none ever happened? Fibbing? Possibly using a kernal of truth to grow a very large amount of BS?

It aint just the oil fields. I had a oppertunity to leave my blacktop dump trucking to go into car hauling direct to florida and back. The cabover I was assigned to the day I examined the equiptment, met the owner and got to know one another the truck was capable of 150 flat out. I asked him why would he need such a fast tractor on a car hauler to Florida it's only about a day or so to get there one way.

He smiled and said that it will be needed to go fast because the customers will be waiting on the classic cars. Oh by the way they cannot be damage.

I had to walk. I knew nothing about car hauling and that 5th wheel being about 5 inches from the road surface was not motivating to me at all. I knew I would get into trouble with it.

Fibbing? Sure Ive hauled cars for 100 years, 150 is too slow. And so on. BS my way into a thousand dollar a week job. ...

No. It's not for me. Tell the truth. And be done with it. If the interview does not go well, then that's that. It's easier to go on one humble truth telling than it is to try and hold together a rotting web of lies.

By the way saw the end of your progress. Congratulations and best of luck to you!
