I think you're looking in the wrong forum . I doubt anybody considers them their favorite trucking company . I hope you note the threads about being sent home after training to sit and wait for an available trainer .
In December 2006 USX was audited , given a poor safety management rating and fined for logbook falsification . Why were the drivers falsifying the logs ?

I don't know to much about them to give a real opinion...but based on the recruiters and everything...seems like a good company to work for...the only thing i don't like about USX is the fact their fleet is automatics...and your CPM depends on how many miles you drive...to get .35 CPM you have to drive 500-600 on one trip...anything over that...is less CPM...anything lower is more CPM...

Based on recruiters EVERY company is a good company to work for . Search the forum and read about USX trainees being sent home after training to wait for an available trainer . Did anyone have the sense to file for unemployment when they did that ?

I started with USX in 2004, when they had their own school. I understand that they have made several changes sincen then, so I will not comment on them in that regard. I do want to caution you that although a lot of companies are making the change, the ability to drive ONLY auto transmission trucks will greatly limit any future job searches.

My husband has been working for them going on almost five months now. If you spend time going through the mountains of post on this forum you will find a lot of threads related to US Xpress. A lot of what you read will be negative and generally posted from someone who no longer works there for one reason or another related to a bad experience. You will also find a few post that disagree with some of the negative you read. Best advice is to take what you need to help you from the post and leave the rest behind. :yes2557:

So far his experience with US Xpress has not been near as bad as I had feared after finding this place and spending hours reading the horror stories. Has it all been perfect? No....but I have yet to find a job that is whether it is a trucking job or some other field.

Here are things you will read about that I can tell you how it has been for him:

Training - He did have to wait almost two weeks after orientation to get on a truck with a trainer and he did have a trainer from hell. I have posted elsewhere under "tolerating trainers".
Miles - He gets around 2500 per week. Has had one 3000 mile week but has also had a 1400 mile week following a breakdown.
He does seem to sit more on weekends than I would prefer.
Pay - His pay from day one has always been 100% correct including training pay, detention pay, break down pay, layover, miles etc.
Hometime - Has been home every time on time just like he put in for.
Fleet Manager - He has built a fantastic relationship with his FM. The night and weekend folks are not the same but his regular FM has been great to work with.
Equipment - All trucks are automatic. His first one has had multiple issues however he is on his way to Medway as I type to get a new truck and had no idea that was coming.
Breakdown - He has had to endure two breakdown experiences so far with the truck he is about to get rid of. Time on the phone waiting to talk to breakdown has averaged anywhere from twenty to forty five minutes. Time in the shop to get his truck fixed has been as short as six hours and as long as two days.

All in all he feels his time so far with this company has been a success. I attribute his success not to the company itself but to my hubby’s attitude and outlook on life in general. He rolls with the flow and never gets bent out of shape about much of anything. I would have wanted to kill several people at US Xpress by now.

So whether you go to US Xpress or another company, from the start accept that everyday will not always be perfect. All companies have their issues. The first year with a larger carrier is not going to be your dream trucking job but it will take you toward that dream because of the miles and experience. You will have days when you feel like nothing more than a number but you can also control to what extent you let that ruin your day. Good luck! :biggrin_25525:
