Never saw the movie or Star Wars.
    Was busy trucking.
By the time I was 17 I had done 3 cross country road trips, sharing the highways and byways.
That's where my interest came from.
Loading and moving trailers around a warehouse got me inside the cab and I was hooked.
Too many regs and not enough compensation to attract young people anymore.

Putting the medal to the pedal and the thing to the floor isn't quite as much fun if you're in a governed truck, lol.

"better pay cutting into profit margins"!! I'm sure having to train drivers and massive turnover is helping profit margins!! Not to mention all the crashes on the highways and in the parking lots from poorly trained drivers with a bad attitude from being lied to and all the other stresses of being an OTR driver. And we wouldn't want that CEO to go without his 20 million dollar bonus!! Of course that's my $.02.... I could be wrong....

A lot of millennials aren't intersted in trucking because they can't even pass a drug test. Think marijuana.

Talked to a guy this morning in my hometown. His log truck company has many trucks sitting right now. Can't find qualified drivers.

Told me they need 4 drivers right now. Put out the word and got 26 applicants.

Guess how many drivers qualified? You got it! ZERO!

Drug test fails, suspended licenses, dui's, accidents, so on and so forth.
