The pay scale varies by region. You'll need to speak with recruiting to get the terms for your area, and how you intend to operate.

I know several of our O/O's that do very well. If I actually had the balls to buy a truck, I would seriously consider leasing it to W&S.

I was leased to them. Sold out due to a nasty injury and a driver who robbed us blind. Need Large Car as long a WB as legal, 48ft. Flatbed w/sidekit. Light lumber tarps, coil tarps are handy but just mean more to carry, chains, binders, headache rack on tractor, lots of straps, seems you never have enough. We would start at Balt-Sea-Spokane-Chi-Lafayette IN-Sea (maybe 40 drops pay $40 ea. on the covered wagon) get it off in a day and a half, Spokane-Chi-Balt. home 1 Wk and go back out. The pay was some of the best for flatbed and they treat you like you are an important business to them. They paid $50 for a passed inspection on the road. They just take care of you. Anyone see Matt Grandy there say HI From someone with a shiny Burgundy Pete from VA, And ask where he is going to sleep Christmas and you might get a good story. How are they for experienced drivers? Most of the posts I read are mostly about newbies.:biggrin_25520:

I have worked for Watkins Shepard for nearly 6 years, and decided to post a reply to anyone looking for a job here. I am writing this in a positive way not because I think my company will see it, but because it is the best job I have probably ever had. There have been some rocky days but isn't that normal to any job, The people that work in the office in time recognise your voice you are not a number, A real person greets you when you call and most of the time you get who you want...I have done alot of drop and hooks, especially doing work on the East coast. I did local work out of New Jersey and they never dropped me in the battle grounds you hear of like NYC. I have ran as hard as I wanted and been given time off totally as I needed. Communication is all you need to remember DO NOT wait till 3 days before you want to get the the left coast and your going into Dalton GA. You may not get what you want...I was given the opportunity to run out of Helena several years ago to Canada Ect. It has been awesome. I go to the same places alot, working with the same people at W&S and a routine. They have aprox 22 terminals across the US so there is the same opportunity as guys retire or leave. It has had some trying times in the past year and a half but again there is Rocky roads no matter where you work. You also need to think as I have, If they do not trim and try to cut waste they will not wether the storm we are all in right now with the economy. Payday is every Friday if you have a check coming....It is not hard to make the 45k working here....My final point is they will work hard for you if you meet them half way. I truely believe this is one of the best out there...Tom
