I did a LS load off the load board a cpl weeks ago.

Dry Van $2,900 for 1150 miles $2.52 a mile. 5 miles of DH to pick up load going right where I needed to go. Not too shabby.

The agent from Jacksonville was interesting, the original rate was $2,500. I balked and he says, "$2,700!" I balked again about him not having a confirmed pick up time and he says, "$2,900!"

I accepted the load at $2,900 and it couldn't of worked out any better for me.

I drive for a LS o/o, its handled just like any other company. I got pre qual'd, hopped through paperwork hoops and went to a 1 day orientation. Went to pickup a trailer that night. The wait for insurance to cover me took longer than the pre qual and orientation, somewhere around 1 1/2 months from resignation at old company to first load.

How bad is double brokering? I got a load from landstar and they got it from some other company who had the contract with the shipper. Their communication wasn't great so I didn't get the right location or release numbers off the bat and the shipper was super pissed with the contracted carrier when it came out it was double brokered.

For some reason I thought you were getting your own numbers. I'm glad you're doing good there. They've definitely got some good freight.

I was always skeptical about coming over because I've heard it's hard to make it over there with a large truck payment, I can dispatch myself with no issues I'm leaning towards getting my own authority
