I don't worry about it once we clear Nogales. If anything bad will happen it will be there.
Otherwise it's the Border Patrol. Im not concerned with them.
Laredo though, this is back in the late 90's you had to be careful because you were not exactly welcome there. Im not current on the border other than what I can see on shows featuring it.
Overall I would not worry about it. I would however carry several cases of water and some extra food down there along that border because the ground is not good ground for humans overall. You can be pretty damaged from exposure pretty quickly without water and some means of staying warm at night should you wind up with a dead truck for whatever reason.
I never really had any trouble with the exception of Nogales. I understand the BP has established since my time a new barrier between Tuscon and Nogales. So things may have improved since then.
You will do well to constantly check your rig for bodies, drugs etc. Don't let anyone touch it, approach it or you and so forth. You will be ok. If you have a rig with a air dam above the sleeper, definately check that for people. They will get up in there. And as soon you hit a bad bridge or plate in the road, it will pitch em right into your drives to be turned into gore. You don't want that. Which is why I prefer full condo trucks with no space up top for anything or anyone to fit. -
I remember Eagle Pass. We have had no trouble there. There are spots you are very close to the border there. Wife and I had a wonderful lunch at the sonic there one beautiful day. The railroad though is a problem at night. If you are between the railroad crossing and the border itself (Transloading coil...) you might not make it out past the train blocking your small road until morning.
