Another lousy night, awake with nausea and pounding heart. Now I'm all tired and they took my load home because I took too long getting to the yard.

They'll get me something else after my B service is done.

I just finished reading 515 Page's and am not only informed, but entertained. For some reason I found your post when I googled "is 30 too old to start truck driving". I've been at Ups for 6 year's pt, 2 year's as a cover driver and 4 year's as a ft delivery driver. I have been on the waiting list to drive feeders (Cdl) for 11 of the 12 year's that I have been employed here and am not even close to the top of the list. I've always wanted to drive trucks otr and I finally have a decent amount of savings and zero debt. My questions are mainly pertaining to paying for my schooling and whether I should pay for it or find a company willing to. Is there any particular companies you or anyone else reading this would recommend to a new grad? Also I am out of Albany, NY if that helps...Sorry for the long post and questions but I know from reading all the post that their are many veteran drivers following this post including your self and am hoping someone could assist me.
Also I'd like to apologise for run on sentence s etc as I am typing this on my phone.
Thank you for any and all insight.

There are a couple of regular visitors here who are much more qualified to answer your questions, so I'll just let them chime in when they drop by.

Thanks for reading! (U might have 2 much free time)

I don't know if it's just me but you are in line to get filet mignon and instead you decided to eat a tainted salad that will make you sick. Man find a hobby or something to satisfy you until that sweet gig comes in. UPS feeder driver is the holy grail.

Paying for your school is good since it gives you plenty of choices of companies to choose from. Some companies will reimburse the tuition back to you also. Trucking company schools serve a good purpose for many and there's some decent ones out there such as Jim Palmer Trucking.
You could be waiting another 10 years for a UPS driving job. Never know what can happen at that place. Where I'm from near Nashville,TN there's two UPS facilities. One of them had several workers that were in line to become drivers after waiting about 10 years. Just as it was time for them to start the transition to driving due to openings, the union got involved and changed the rules. All workers moving into driving positions had to work in a certain warehouse and people that worked in the other warehouse would have to transfer to the other one, then go to the bottom of the waiting list again. Yep, union brothers watching each others back.
Find a school thats 160 hours because most companies want that; it gives you more opportunities. I think J&R Schugel requires more thatn 160 hours and only recruits from certain schools on top of that.
Let me go through my notes and see what else I can find.
