So my next question is, when you go out with a trainer, are you picked up at Trenton or someplace near your home? I assume if picked up near your home, finding a place to leave your car for an extended period of time is necessary, right?

The military thing is new so I'm not positive how that work. I believe there is no charge for the school portion but you need to verify that.

As far as the trainer go it's all according to where you. After school you can have a trainer meet you near your home. Unless you live near a terminal it doesn't make sense to leave a vehicle there.

Yes. As long as you show your DD214 school cost is $1000 instead of $2500 (i think these numbers are correct) Its a substantial discount. I had my school paid for well before other guys in my class.

Trainer can either meet you at nearest truck stop, or could always meet at the terminal and leave personal vehicle there. That way you always have car anytime your in Trenton for the night as you will be thru there quite often.

As for should you, or shouldnt you make the switch.....really only you knows your financial/life situation we'd all be speaking blindly saying do or dont. Your 1st yr at Millis you'd make around 50-60k, which for some is an improvement but for some its not. You only live once and only you knows how much you've wanted to drive. Good luck and will I'll help answer any questions to help.

50k would be an improvement for me financially, plus get me away from being a cubicle rat. I have been a cubicle rat most of my adult career . The jobs that I have enjoyed the most is when inwas driving some sort of a vehicle as part of the duties of the job.

I would wait until you receive your payout in February and go for it. That way you would also avoid getting on your own in the winter. I ended up on my own in December after spending all of my training time in the south on a temporary dedicated Christmas account with my trainer. It was fine, just slow down and take your time as you would / should in your car. When I went thru their school 2 years ago I paid $1,000 for school because of my military service when everyone else paid $2,500. Not sure if that has changed by a recruiter could answer that.

Yes, I am thinking of waiting for the profit sharing payout in February, plus, on January 1st. My use it or lose it vacation time resets and I can cash in those days as well, so that would be a nice addition to my bank account also. So, that being said, my best time to begin the process is after the first of next year. In the mean time, I plan on having the Indiana BMV manual memorized for General Knowledge, Air Brakes and Combination Vehicles. I plan to contact Millis again in mid to late January and begin the process as well as obtaining my Indiana CLP. If all goes according to plan, I am setting a goal of beginning training at Trenton OH , at the latest, April of nest year.
