I haven't posted in a while but I have a random question...
I have my little ham shack set up but I would like to add a base radio to the mix. What are some suggestions for either a newer or older base radio (Preferably one that I could plug into a wall instead of a power supply)?
I would also like to be able to just set my Kenwood TS-2000 on top of the base radio if possible...

I got the Galaxy 2547. I had one of these a couple of years ago and liked it fine. Also, it has the variable RF power on the front so I can turn it down if I want to run power.

RCI 2980wx are nice radios (if you can find one) only problem with them, is the weather channels are a bit finicky and won't work with some antenna's... One I have the weather channels worked just fine using a 5/8 ground plane antenna...but won't work with my beam... Other than that, no other issues.
