I wouldn't worry about which truck to buy. That is the easy part.
I would check the accuracy of the revenue quotes you are receiving. With crude oil trading at approx 1/2 of it's price ( $48 bbl) of it's boom peak of $110, and the world being awash in the stuff, whoever is forecasting a boom may have an ulterior motive. Be very careful.

This is precisely why older trucks give new owners headaches.
Looking for a little advice on a major electrical issue with my truck. -
This is actually what I was saying in my own sarcastic way.Nothing will be booming until oil goes up in price.I believe peak was $160 a barrel during Bush,no?Tanker312 Thanks this.

I was referring to the fracking era. Adjusted for inflation who knows how high the price of crude spiked for a short term.

Crude never went above $147 a bbl

Make sure you have a backup plan, nothing lasts forever.

The price of sand is dropping because of new mines in texas. So they dont have to haul it from up north. I would have a backup plan other than sand.
And yes, it does boom and bust. I was roughnecking in williston making 91k gross. Now im lucky if i gross 52k.diesel drinker Thanks this. -
I'm not tryna be a smart ### but...
- A driver with 20 yrs experience ... wants to buy
- A 12yr old truck with 500K ... for
- $36,000 loan ...and
- No maintenance documentation to justify price
I don't know much, but something don't seem right, esp with OP desire to get into high debt, for such a truck -
Not sure about Texas oilfield roads, but I don't know why guys buy beautiful hoods and beat the crap out of them on the roads here in ND. I know a guy that bought a 389 glider from Harrison, and had the fenders falling off of it, gauges missing in the dash, drove with the windows down on the gravel, all within a year. But, I guess it was his, so be it.

Some brokers have an option in their packets that you can check for being a woman owned business. I'm not sure how that helps, but it could be like the truck driver's version of a senior discount.
