Hotshot rates are horrible

When a company pays lease operators 82 cents per mile... 90 cents seems like a pay raise

 

Try running cars for brokers then come say .90 a mile is bad.

 

.50 cents yeah on a good day if I didnt have the direct clients there is no way to stay with brokers and load boards. The cost of fuel on average is $2.45 a gallon and where I am in the mountains doesnt help. When you factor in maint cost, tire fund, taxes, and all other biz related daily costs that .50 turns into around .20 cents auto brokers arent paying unless your going over 200 miles. While I dont have costs of a semi, I still have the costs of traveling out of state, sleeping at hotels, and gas prices up north where I just came back from were over $3.05 a gallon, like I said with out my direct clients I would not be in the posistion I am in now.

 

Anj, I am going to tell you something you will not believe. Now when I first heard this it was hard for me to believe. Light loads pay better. FBC said this about 8 years ago on a post he made. And I can say that my best paying loads have been under 1,000 lbs. Now they don't come up everyday but they do come. When people know your work and trust you to get the job done they will call. It does take some time. I call them hooptee loads. Hooptee we are making money on this one. Last time was three weeks ago. I had to go 3 hr to pickup 5 hr to deliver $1500 Hooptee for me.
