Portland took the weekend off to party don't you know? Nor did I until I stopped by and tried to get some fluids. I'm not so sure who I should be mad at, payroll or my DM for some of my payments not getting, well, paid. Still, I'm pretty happy with them right now, and I don't work for the Northwest guys. You like the outhouse they have in the Seattle yard?

    :yes2557:

I won't haul any loads for those guys up there anymore.

I'm considering going to orientation a week from Sunday with Knight here in Upstate New York. Anyone know anything about the terminals out here. Supposed to call Mark about a bus ticket early next week.

    Thanks

Stay away from them, they are truly evil and need an old priest and a young priest

    Mademistakesb4,
Did I see another post of yours about another company, that you blasted? If not I apologize. I was wondering who you drive for, and do you like them. Boy I may just say, the heck with it at this point.

Yeah I actually blasted Knight and Werner because I have experience with both of them. Werner is well.....questionable in what they do because they are hiring so many more people then they have work for and its frustrating for those of us who go in and then get told we can run cheaply making 200-330 a week after taxes or go home with no pay till something comes up. Knight is truly a rough company each terminal competes with one another instead of working together to better the company and make it grow into a positive force. Werner works together but as with all large companies there are many things that can be a pain with them. I will say this much for them other then having to make myself a pain in order for them to find me a run they honestly have never left a question I have had unanswered and I actually havent had any pay issues. In that respect I cannot say anything negative, my biggest gripe is just the hiring practices its hard to get stuck in the position of making so low a wage and having a family to support. However since I posted those comments I have just taken a deep breath and just remain calm and no longer loose my cool over things because in the long run the only person it hurts is me with the undue stress it puts you under. Well take care and best of luck to all, welll correction the only thing I dont think I will ever be positive about is Knight Transportation but other then that I will always try to remain positive lol

Any big company owner isnt going to give a flip about the drivers that work for theyr company, as long as they have a nice fat bankroll to keep theyr pockets lined with gold.. i havent seen one owner yet that cares about their drivers or anyone else that works for them, dms ,drivers, they simply dont care,, they have lots of money, have a big house with maids and servants and they sleep in theyr own bed everynight after having steak dinners, so why should they care??

    B) Being forced to make local drops and picks in every major city, (at less money per hour than they paid local drivers for exactly the same work,) just so I could get a dispatch with decent miles

A friend of mine told me she was told by Knight in orientation that she would only have to do local work if she dropped a load at a terminal or a receiver that had no mty's.

Here is a ligit complaint-Turns out that they wanted her to do locals before going home after she came from the house and when dropping at receiver and yards. Seems most of the dropped freight customers have no mtys because they are picked up by other drivers who need a trailer or by locals who hide them.

But she does tell me that the rate they pay for local work for OTR drivers is spelled out in the employee handbook, so complaining about it being less then the local drivers makes no sense, since you could of walked out of orientation if you did not like the pay difference.

Every OTR company I have worked for gave me a employee manual on day 1. So by the time you seat a truck, you should have no complaints about benefits or how they pay the miles and local work. right?:yes2557:

you want a good idea on how things are going at knight? I worked there for 22 months, took some family time off, scheduled 6 days off and had it cleared to take the truck home. I ended up taking a 7th day off as grandma was not ready to be alone again (which was approved). when I went to come back they told me i couldn't drive their equipment until I got a medical release (for ME when I wasn't home for that reason) and if I wouldn't go get 1 then I couldn't come back to work. this was just 2 months ago. So keep your eyes and ears open when you think about this company.

knight has now starting to enforce a new fuel solution and routing in the preplans. Not only does it take the chance to get the shower everyday when you fuel (the last two runs I got to fuel every other day) many times it will run your tanks down to where the fuel is sloshing around, thankfully we all carry a extra fuel filter, but then when you make you destination and low and behold no empty to be had you have to waste what fuel you do have left running around for a trailer. Then yesterday I got to dead head 150 miles (gauge was beyond the red line, I know there is in most cases a thirty gal diff that doesnt read on the gauge) before I get my next preplan to fuel. Now they didnt take in account the miles I had to look around for the trailer, thus guess who gets the lecture when the isnt right at the other end? Then comes the route, (bring out the magnifying glass because you really have to look for some of the roads they take you on to save 10 miles (dosnt take in the thought that you will hit small towns with stop lights and such). We are getting told about our idle time (mine was a whole 10%, and thats because I had a 34 restart and was watching to much tv and relaxing) I got suggested that maybe I should spend that time in a motel (well there goes a hundred plus dollars, I dont think so!)
Ive been driving a long time but with smaller outfits, I like the treatment and respect I've been getting from Knight and from what I hear from others they actually give me good miles (I average 3000-3200 a week) but after the first of the yr (I will see what obama has in store for us first) I do believe I will look for something or someone else that has the need for a driver that dosnt need his hand held
