Hi everyone, i m new to cb's and just thought if i could ask for any help here. I ve bought a system which includes an intek m60 plus radio . 27mhz/4w fm
A midland pc8 antenna which is tuned on the same vehicle with the swr meter, 25-30mhz max power 800w, min input swr <1.2 and an rf amplifier kl203p 100w on fm, input swr - 1.1-1.5. Amplifier got a pre amp switch, linear switch and ssb or am/fm switch. Any help how to improve and reach longer distance and if the setup is good? Thanks

Are you in the UK? I've never seen one of those radios before although I'm sure it would work just fine without the amplifier.
Most of your performance will come from the antenna system so what type of vehicle is it going into?

With a decent antenna system that tiny radio should reach 20-30 miles to my receiver and maybe 10 or so to the average person. Nothing wrong with that radio.

Are all the channels same to use or is there any that might be more powerfull, clearer? ... if i keep the setup i got shall i work well? The pre amp is for recieving and the lin amp for sending?

    Thanks guys for the help!

If it were mine I would use the radio and see what happens. Much of successful radio operation is determined by who is around to receive and respond to you on available frequencies. If there are compatible radios within reach being used, then it can be great. But if not, then the story is very different.

As noted, the antenna is very important. Generally, the longer and higher the tuned antenna is, the better for radio operations. If you want to communicate to greater distance, a taller and higher antenna is often the key to success.

Have you tried your radio setup yet? What happened?

Your antenna will work best at a single frequency and performance will taper down the further you get from that frequency. Choose that frequency wisely based on usage in your area.
