Ok now I know what you have, why don't you just use the mic that is made for the unit?

Only other solution is to get one of those 9V, Radioshack DJ mixers. Too bad most of the RadioShack's closed up around here. More ordering and crossing fingers that it gets here.

Too much feedback from that mic. Low volumes where you're near the box, it sounds okay. Turn it up any louder and you've got yourself a sonic cannon!!!

Never mind, I see why you can't, they don't offer one.

Ok I have to then assume the mic input is 600 to 1k so you can throw together an adaptor,

If you have feedback, then a noise canceling mic may still not work but it is ok to try.

Any real way to solve that feedback issue? Only other thing I could also think of doing is getting a cheap CB, some Radioshack loudspeaker, and a smaller amp running off my 12V Yellowtop to power it as a separate unit.

looks like a standard 500-600 ohm impedance mic will do, get a decent one with a good shielded cord and use a quality 3.5 mil male connector. you'll have to find one yourself, a good stereo shop will have one with quality strain relief.

Car stereo shop I presume? I'll have to write all this down for when the pay gets back up there. Shielded cord? I'm guessing that might do some justice to keep the feedback from being too much of an issue from what I'm reading into.
So far, it's been parts here, pieces there and now to get out and actually test this system on the road to ensure it doesn't break itself apart with all the mad power I got on it.

You will need to get a three conductor shield plug and cord because those units use a PTT mic to lower the level of audio and switch the mic audio to the amp.

As far as feedback, there isn't much you can do with that other than digital processing the feedback out of the mic circuit.

You can put a 10k micro variable in the mice from audio to gnd and make the permanent adjustment

All valuable information and will continue to try out parts and see what works. In the meantime, the audio quality is kicking and I even got the LED's to go with the music!!
