There's not a company I know of that will allow a rookie to go straight into any kind of heavy haul.
Most want a minimum of 2 years flatbed experience before they even consider training for the heavy haul division.
There is a big difference between step and flat. Weight distribution is different, load placement is different, securement is different.
Granted the step is more versatile as far as the loads you can cary, but if your careful, take the time to do it right, then you should have no problem.
Bypassing flatbed to stepdeck.

One day here and you're about to get on the ignore list. That's gotta be a record

im just saying they're the same concept. The goal is to keep it on the trailer. And not hit anything. Just because someone is a master bull dozer hauler. Does not automatically mean they can drag a load of lumber down the road. Or vise versa. Plus. You never tell someone how easy something is when it's your gravy train. That'd be silly.
Short Fuse EOD Thanks this. -
The OP was the one that said he heard step deck was easier. I have pulled both and am currently in a car hauler. So no I am not lard ### as you put it but maybe you can check with him.. I was wondering if that is why he thought it was easier. Thanks for the advice though.

It's not just a bull dozer. That's my point. If you load it in the wrong direction some state will issue a ticket. Did ya know that? If you remove the blade can you ship it with the machine? Which state until recently required an escort if it stuck out past the trailer, but no escort for anything else until 12 wide?

Should I have used a different comparison. Say a Tractor? Would that have been better? Plus. That's the reason these forums are around is to gather information. The correct information that is. So if someone asked for information on hauling a say D6. Would you guide them with the proper information? Or tell them they're not qualified and let them learn on their own?

come on @noluck you know it's easier to haul a big dozer than a load of sticks! I once hauled a D9 and a 335 cat excavator at the same time with one chain and some duct tape lmao!!
see how easy it is a child can do it! Popcorn anyone?

Man you all seem to think a stepdeck is something magical. There is no secret formula handshake for a stepdeck. You are all making it out to be harder than it is.
Got my license on Thursday load 1 was Friday and load 2 was Monday. No there was no trainer with me. Only training that I got was how to disconnect the neck.
Load #1
Load #2

You mean you didn't go through all the steps to becoming a super hauler? Like first pulling a dry box. Then a reefer. And so on and so forth?
-
ummm today is Thursday! You're a quick learner and a super trucker all in one , getting your license and hauling two loads before 9am. I knew there was a reason I liked you! LolMarkH129, spyder7723, Logan76 and 8 others Thank this.
