Surprised the trailer made it as far as it did.

Related story on the same page shows an I-94 crash. The tractor was dangling off the side of the bridge being counter balanced by trailer. Driver veered to the side to avoid collision with the car that braked hard in front of him. Don't know if the car/driver was still around. Trucker was okay though.

Decent effort but he should have tried harder. I know he could have dragged it through.

seriously, i am sick and tired of reading or seeing this crap.

why is it that this happens? i mean some will say the GPS sent him/her that way.

but for crying out loud, can't they READ THE SIGNS as they approach..????

frankly, i feel no sympathy for any of these morons, when they get fired, and THEY SHOULD ALL BE FIRED, NOT SUSPENDED, nor do i feel any sympathy for the trucking company that HAS TO PAY for damages to the structure or the equipment, nor the recovery crews and police detail.

even though Swifty is self insured as many of the mega-carriers are, there simply is NO EXCUSE for this crap to happen. as (to me) it ingrains into the minds of passersby the fools we truckers are each and every stinking time crap like this happens.

training by a CDL school OR a mega-carrier school, NOTWITHSTANDING, all students are reasonably trained to handle a rig. aren't they ever told to NOT DEPEND on any form of GPS???

do these students even KNOW HOW TO READ? at the very least, on a 5th grade level??

even drivers that are in their 50's, 60s, and 70's who dropped out of school to support thier families had MORE sense then these freaking nitwits, and have racked up MILLIONS of miles with NO SUCH troubles.

i personally think and believe that reading comprehension SHOULD BE a part of CDL training.....

can't pass a simple 5th grade reading test?

g'bye, and become a burger flipper.

too much is put onto the shoulders of these nitwits to do the job, and when they screw up, and they DO MORE THAN a highly experienced driver, they make US ALL LOOK LIKE FREAKING CLOWNS out there.

I guess they could not be bothered to dig that extra foot under that bridge.

With that said I noticed that swift has a ton of fuel mileage saving crap under and on that rig. Might as well take it off, one good damage bit from a bridge like that is enough to erase any potential savings with all that aerodynamic crap by clown drivers.

I have no sympathy for drivers who hit bridges anymore. There is no point. Ive had trouble with bridges in the past but never like that.
