Well after spending the summer obtaining my CDL, my journey at Garner Transportation begins tomorrow. Orientation starts at 8 AM. Wish me luck everyone.

Orientation is over. Started the morning going over parts of a pretrip. Then hooked up to a loaded trailer and performed a light check and went over more items of their pretrip. Then they had me perform my first actual alley dock at their warehouse. Manuever was in a much tighter space with a 53' ft (we used 48' in school) and had to be performed differently than a learned. You were sllowed 10 trys to hit the manuever. It had to use 3 pullups but landed it. Was more nervous doing this than during my test.
After that we hit the road for about 30 mins. Took a bit to get the feel for the truck but man is driving a newer model truck significantly nicer than what we had in school. Such a much smoother ride, quieter and easy to shift. Recruiter said I'll train in an automatic but said he's probably going to request a 10 speed once I finish training. Told him it didn't matter and that I wouldn't mind a 10 speed.
Finished with that, took my whiz quiz andthe rest of the day was videos and paperwork. Got my trainer's contact info and I should hear from him sometime end of the week to find out when we leave this coming Sunday or Monday to start the 3 week training. Can't wait to hit the road.girlsdrivetoo, G13Tomcat, FalconsFan21 and 2 others Thank this. -

Just got off the phone with HR. Passed my whiz quiz. Got a 65. Lol. Should hear from my trainer once he gets his load info to find out what time we leave out Sunday evening or Monday morning. Can't believe it's finally here. Beyond excited to hit the road.

Looking forward to soaking up as much knowledge as I can from my trainer over the next few weeks. Hopefully I get to do the difficult stuff. I've never been one to shy away from something that I've never done before or struggle with. I'm definitely not one to not ask many questions about things I have little exerience with either.FalconsFan21, Vic Firth and Mike2633 Thank this. -
There used to be a woman who posted here quite a bit, who drove for Garner. She really liked them.
girlsdrivetoo Thanks this.
