My name is Tony, I hold a CDL-B permit in the state of OH. i am new to trucking and to the forum. I have a question about hazardous materials endorsement.

My employer requires me to obtain as hazardous materials endorsement and i have read over some information on it online and i think i might be disqualified from obtaining it.

Around Christmas of 2013 i was involuntarily committed for depression. Since then i have been mentally sound with no sort of criminal or mental health problems.

On the application it asks "have i ever been involuntarily committed to a mental instituiton"

I was wondering if there were any waivers available for me to obtain the endorsements i need for my job.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again for welcoming me to your site.

    HAZMAT Background Checks FAQs
Question ten would indicate that yes, you can. If this is important to you you may want to work with a lawyer in this.

Hazmat is not worth the headaches.
You get paid air miles then have to drive around the loop of major cities.
Plus you have to stop at every open scale, and be responsible for the separation and blocking and bracing...all for a few pennies.

It's absolutely worth the headache in a lot of cases because without it, you have little or zero chance of getting a lot of good jobs

Companies need drivers,I highly doubt they send him packing because he can't obtain one, especially if he has a valid excuse.
I'm dropping mine...trucking jobs are dime a dozen.

    What's a hazmat ticket cost?
    I'm guessing $1000.
Inspection at nearly every weigh station?
    No Thanks.
