How did you make a whole year without getting pulled in one time by DOT for inspection or anything else? There is no way i would drive one Single Day without a valid CDL. After a year my nerves and blood pressure would have been at critical levels.
Help, rolled a truck, will it stop me from driving?

Is this type of response really necessary? (makes up think what kinda person are you?)
OP admitted his mistake, just wants some input on whether he can get his CDL. His company is just as liable as he is. I'm betting he's some young man who just didn't think. AS some posting here have made the same mistake (but got lucky and never got into an accident).
The company is just as liable in these situations. You got lucky and never had an accident. OP wasn't as lucky...he F###ed up and got into an accident (tough luck). -
Local gig with a construction crew, they just never bothered us.luckystar and Roberts450 Thank this.

Fairly easy for local guys. I haven't passed a scale in over 4 years. I'm not avoiding them, it's just no scales on my route. Make sure all lights work and don't speed and the chances of getting pulled over drop to almost nothing.
Now that said, did he screw himself or did the company? Very likely the company could have told him he doesn't need a cdl for that vehicle, and he foolishly belived them. Op should have checked yes. I mean how many lawn guys with a one ton and trailer actually get med cards and run logs..... Now how many don't even realize it's needed?TaterWagon#62, luckystar, Lepton1 and 2 others Thank this. -
At least 6 people thought it was good advice. Sorry you didn't.Texas_hwy_287 Thanks this.

Not surprised DOT never check. I'm on linehaul the past 21 years and have been inspected exactly once, 10 years ago In the 3 years I ran stateside got inspected 3 times
TaterWagon#62 and crb Thank this. -
You like living dangerously don't you? It'll be a long while if ever somebody hires you and I hope you're boss got hit with a fine for letting you drive without a CDL.

I don't understand how the company's insurance is handling this. The fact he didn't have the proper license means the company either didn't do the proper paperwork or background checking, or did and didn't care. Either way, I can't see the insurance paying a single dime out for any of the costs associated with the accident, and if it was my call I, as the insurer, would be ready to drop the whole company.
Then again, maybe they don't even have insurance either. *shrug*Just passing by, Dumdriver, pattyj and 1 other person Thank this.
