I have own authority and all. I run for one broker and have direct freight. Another broker came in picture and just looking for suggestions from mine and broker conversation.

All of this is irrelevant unless you discuss amount of miles your getting under each program.

Also what all do you supply and what does the broker supply you? Trailers? Insurance? Plates? Nothing?

    Jeck Thanks this.

    It is indeed.
"It's not what you make it's what you keep"
higher gross without a net increase is not worthwhile imo, and working harder or working more for the same or less (net) is a losing proposition.

Yes I agree. I do think he is looking as it more money and since he don't pay fuel and other expenses he sees more money for him but really the "company looses"

I average 2000 miles a week per truck. $2.15 all miles. I supply all. The other broker says $1.80 a mile but a lot more miles. More money but less per mile average.

you have lower costs if you own your own truck then I do. Even so I think the miles are out there that you don't need someone else to find loads. I don't think it is a smart move but you could move one truck over there just to see. Would you use his authority or yours?

I will use my own authority. One truck is staying where it is and other is on direct customer and possibly new broker. Also thinking load boards instead of second broker.

    Jeck Thanks this.

    you run
    2000 miles at 2.15 equals $4300
    at (for example)
    3000 miles at 1.80 is $5400
that extra 1000 miles makes you $1100 a week equals $1.10 a mile for take out what you pay your drivers per mile and thats your profit.... then your wear and tear maintenance and fuel and thats your profit. Not worth it

    Airborne Thanks this.
