The thing I find quite intersting is how in the US, the requirement for a CDL is determined by GVW, whereas in BC/AB (not sure about the rest of them), its based off the type of vehicle/number of axles.
Hey @not4hire, off topic but do you know why school buses here in AB have the white beacon lights on the roof? Never seen those on a school bus before I moved to AB. -
-
We're using those here too.

Gas. Oil. Milk. Etc.
-
I suspected that, just never knew for sure. Just don't ever remember seeing those on the buses when growing up.
-
You probably didn't. I know for certain I didn't. Those only made an appearance around these parts roughly 7-8 years ago.kylefitzy Thanks this.

Here is a link to the Council of Ministers of Transportation and Highway Safety (come.ca) webpage that has a summary (Heavy Truck Weight and Dimension Limits for Interprovincial Operations in Canada [December 2016]) as well as links to all provincial and territorial departments. But, yes, you need to go to each jurisdiction's webpage to get more specific.DDlighttruck Thanks this.
