Wow, that's tough! In my opinion stopping out any farther is pointless. I explained I was going to square up and stop with the rear tires just short of front of trailer. Then was going to get out and check proper alignment and then be able to judge if height was ok. Sounds like you got the raw deal.
It's nice to hear you're keeping a positive attitude. Need more drivers like you

i will offer my two cents worth at the risk of making some of the blue bloods mad but i agree with you each safety guy is different as we have had 3 different ones at my dc no longer than i have been here 1 quit and 1 took another place in the company there is no uniformity between them each has their own lil hangup or critique and at the risk of really starting something i feel you have no right to be responsible for the testing of someone for a job that you cannot do or have not done it would be like having an airline pilot test out with a bulldozer operator policy used to be to be a safety man you had to have a min of 4 yrs exp as a wm truckdriver now its 4 yrs or a 2 yr degree and im not saying anything against these safety folks personally i just feel for a fleet so focused on safety and training that its a real slap in the face to be examined by someone that is not capable of doing the job they are testing you for and taking classes and doing a lil yard driving and getting your cdl dosent make you a truckdriver it makes you a person that passed a test and got cdl kinda like passing welding school dosent make you a welder it just gives you a general knowledge only time and exp make you a welder and as focused as wm is on protecting itself from liability and litigation i wonder how it would look in court when a lawyer asks so mr safety person you yourself have never driven a truck but yet you signed off on this drivers test and training? i bet the lawyer would have a field day with that one? again im not bashing its still a good job but i think they contradict themselves on a lot of their policies if you read mr sams book you will find he was very big on folks working their way up and i agree we must change to adapt to the ever changing marketplace or be swallowed up but too much change at once and bypassing expereience in the name of change is a recipe for dissention and disaster maybe ask the company executives at bentonville if they would fly with a new pilot that the safety guy tested and ok'd instead of an faa certified experienced pilot? wonder how comfortable they would be with that? after all they are leaving the motoring public in the hands of someone a guy thats never drove before said was ok thats the same thing right? lol hardly so good luck my friend be safe out there better days and things will come

This safety guy didn't even know how to turn on the fall lights. I honestly feel like when it comes to doing pre trip every driver should at least get 15 min to familiarize their selves with that truck before starting. You can't judge somebody off of 30 min of doing a pre trip and road test. That's like putting you and i in a 2018 lexus and say hey you have 30 to figure this out. Not fair at all. I called Bentonville to voice my frustration. That same safety guy called me back on a conference with the gm and hr lady. I made all my points plus more like i explained to you. He said i will forward your commets but again you can reapply in a year.

Also he said me shifting wasn't great. My response was you have different drivers that slip seat in this truck. It's going to react different to everybody. You could put a 30 year vet in a brand new pete and i guarantee it will take him sometime to get use to the truck. They way Wal-Mart got their system setup is for drivers to fail and i am talking about peoeple like myself who is trying to get on.

I've been advised to call and set up a phone interview. Can anyone give me advice on that? Also, do you think living 88 miles away is too far? does wal-mart allow you to stay out longer than the 5.5 days? Looking for any and all advice, ty.

Sure seems like you got a bum rap. I feel your pain, I was sent home on my big day after passing everything, but not having had an apnea test done. It was gut wrenching, to say the least. But I went home, cried in my beer for 1 night, then kept going. I was then hired at Mt. P, and looking back it was the best thing that happened to me. I love my D.C., the people I work with, and the area I run. I could transfer closer to home, but I won't. Everything happens for a reason, and not all the time will we know why. A year later and I'm so blessed I got sent home that day. Remember that here, you have way more guys pushing for you to succeed, than the few holding you back. Sounds like he had his mind made up to fail you after your 1st rough shift. You've done nothing but prove your strong character on here, and I'm sure that will continue, along with our support for you.
