Lifting tarps over you head... Watch how fast that gets old.

Can you put the chains in one "door" and tarps in the others? Might need to fold them up so they fit the dimensions available but it will help alot and keep them dry.

I use a setup with a tarp rack on top and it doesn't take much, one awkward step, and you can blow a gasket.

3/16 piece of flat or diamond plate aluminum. Cut to length you need for your tarps. Figure out how wide and add 4-6". Take that extra 4-6" and bend it straight up 90° and put that side 3" from the back of your sleeper on top. Bolt or weld it in place once it's up there. Find a local Fab shop and I bet you can get it done for less than $100+ materials.

 

Have you verified you can lift a lumber tarp up there? I would bet most can't lift a lumber tarp over their heads.

Just something to think about.

If you do go that route make sure you use a 1" ratchet strap or similar to secure the tarps. A bungee will get you a ticket.
