    I always found that interesting too. All the things DOT is on but for some reason they have no problem with such "inspectors/insoections". I guess they get a little more job security that way. Not to mention, it's really a moot point considering their main goal is generating revenue for each state from truckers. To me, inspections are kind of like a smoke and mirrors game. If/when they need money they'll find something wrong on a brand new truck right off the lot to fund the state.

    For real. Company i'm doing all trailer fleet maintenance bought 64 new trailers. Little things such as leveling valve stick toutching shocks, ABS sensor not plugged to no locks on axles. Im talking about bearings inside a hub not secured!!!!!

    Wheel seals leaking all over the place. When lifting the trailer axle you could see the wheels drop almost for 2 inches. That freaking warranty guy as the nerve to ask me if I checked play with a dial indicator.

    True but considering how incompetent most shops are.... and others are nothing but scam artist trying to rob you. Years ago i was leased to landstar for a short term.. their approved inpection location failed me for my power steering resevoir being damp from when i topped it off.

    We had the feds inspect 50% of our trucks two years ago. I could give you a laundry list of things they missed. One truck even had broken cross members. Yes multiple but not my truck.

    The majority of good owner ops will be more picky than a mechanic. They cannot afford many breakdowns and oos can really hurt relations with a customer.

    Im gonna bet he was taught by some truck driving "school" to pass the test. their philosophy is: You don't have to actually understand or comprehend things, just memorize the answers to the written test.
