A couple of questions:
Would it be beneficial to have a safe area where a driver can perform a DPF Manual Regen at a truck stop, at any time they please?
Is it a good idea to have equipment that can start Force Regen on any truck at a truck stop, just like they have at a dealership?
This is for cases where the driver wants to perform a Regen prior to a trip, or has already passed the moment where Manual Regen is possible and the engine is in derate mode. There is no need to waste time finding a dealership or an equipped truck shop. This can be comparable to a lube service - if you'd like to perform a Regen, stop at any truck stop, start Force Regen and go.
Is DPF Servicing necessary at a truck stop?

I do a Rolling regen every so often. Run it at about 1600 rpm in 9th gear, that's about 55 mph, for half an hour, that way don't have to do regens.
-
What is this Regen you speak of?? Is this some new fangled technical term?? Please advise..over...
Grubby and Cottonmouth85 Thank this. -
Why would anybody want to do a regeneration when it not even needed. First the computer won't let do one. Second the truck will regenerate going down the road. Unless you got old and one of the first generation emissions truck. Those thing are a mess, no need to do a forced regeneration only f the computer says you need one

Those who idle during every break are the ones having parked regen needs and problems. Then factor in the fact many of these systems aren't properly maintained

I have a 2017 Freightliner and it has the old Detroit Optimized idle system. It back on 2017 truck anyway. It will do parked regenerations automatically at 1300 RPMs and only takes 20 minutes.
Instead of have APU the computer starts and stop the engine for a/c or heat or charging batteries or maintain engine oil temp. After about 7-8 hours of parked idle time it will regenerate automatically. -
