Sounds good! Well, not the jumping in front of the truck! I'm usually at the yard a couple times a day; however, I've been out since last Thursday and don't know when I will be back. My mother is back in the hospital with a really bad infection.

Sorry to hear about your mother, must be rough dealing with that kn the road. Mine are still in decent health but very close to 80 so that may change quickly.Lonesome and RebelChick Thank this. -
@Redtwin I usually worked the weekends since there are/we're so many doctor appts and things to do during the week. I'm pretty much in/out as well when I'm there. I don't usually have to spend much time discussing what I'm doing next (except for when Chris is working) because Higgins and David in the guard shack keep me preplanned 98% of the time. I just drop/hook/& book. The more time I waste, the later I get home and the less sleep I get. My days are long, but do-able. Up at 6 am, work out (if I can get up the willpower), shower, eat, head to my moms for a couple hours of work (shower, breakfast, laundry, groceries etc.) and around 10 am I go to work until about 9 or 10 pm, go home and fall into bed to do it all over again the next day. Love it when I get a Givens pick up because I drop my trailer and head to Kroger to knock out at least some of the shopping list! And I have to stop at the house a couple times a day to check on her. But I only have one mother left-complicated (my grandmother raised me) so I do what I need to do.

Saturday was a busy day. Savannah, to northern va on 81, to richmond, 10h43m driving time for 698 miles....so close so that 700 mile day! What a busy two weeks...sunday am to saturday pm, 7100 driven 6822 dispatched.
I think the trucking gods know im leaving the northeast, because they havent made it easy. Monday sent to a grocery store in maspeth ny, basically 3 to 4 miles further down flushing than bh brooklyn. Turn down small alley to get to docks. Find a daycab with a 51' struggling to get into the open door. Shipping containers and storage trailers take up the room needed, including a storage trailer in the door closest to the alley. Its pretty obvious i aint gettin in there.
Thankfully all the crews ive dealt with in nyc are pretty resourceful and get the job done. Forklift in the alley got it done. Then had to back out onto the 2 lane street with parked cars. Thankful for flaggers helping. O btw this is a nighttime delivery.
Parked and slept close by. Head over to patterson nj for reload. Get to the 'final mile' and am on a truck route per the sign. 2 lanes, parked cars etc. Get to turn to go to facility...cant make the right. Go down a couple blocks and find enough space to get out of travel lane blocking several driveways. Call facility, shipping is there but phone answering office staff are not for another couple hours.
Continue down and gps says turn left, nope. Cant make that one either. Gps freaks out over low bridge that isnt marked. Nj is usually pretty good with marking. Creep under with couple inches to spare. Make some more turns and get to facility a different way. Of course not a easy back off the street, but thankfully the 4way intersection gives some much needed room.
Taken to yard wo incident. Now repeating the grocery store alley delivery as im here again, with another stop close by in the am, then who knows where to.
Wife is doing well. Consistently turning in 500 to 600 plus mile days when not parked for repairs.Finfn1372, Redtwin, ExtremeUnction and 3 others Thank this. -

Anybody know of any good places to park overnight near the Giant Eagle Warehouse in Bedford Heights, Ohio? The closest truck stops are nearly an hour away.

Also: Apparently it has not been a good month for our fellow Abileeneys. Seems one of our drivers had a rollover on the cloverleaf leading to Sabra/Haverty's/Hill Phoenix down the freeway from the Richmond yard. Word on the street has it that he was texting at the time.
And that's hot on the heels of the guy last month who drove off a cliff in West Virginia after his brakes failed on a 9% downgrade.
Y'all be safe out there. -
Redtwin, bigred81, runningman0661 and 1 other person Thank this.
