I'm sure this has been drought up before.
I know it's a crazy concept are there any companies that actually hire you before you go to their orientation? I don't mean a prehire letter. I mean actually hired. Pending say you passing your drug test.

Local companies might. OTR won't that I know of.
@Chinatown can give you better answers. -
I'm just the type I won't leave an employer until I have another job already.

Companies have to make sure you pass everything before they just hire you.But when you get prehired that's a good sign.cycloguy and CrappieJunkie Thank this.

One driver on here was in cdl school and Keim TS hired him. Told him he's hired if he passes the drug test. Said "You already know how to drive to pass a road test, because you'll have graduated from cdl school."
I don't understand the complex orientation anyway, driving trucks isn't rocket science.akfisher and CrappieJunkie Thank this. -
You are right. it's not rocket science, but there are way too many people with a CDL that don't have a clue what their doing. Just watch them trying to back into parking spots @ the T/S. Orientation exists because FMCSA says so.

Consider the hiring process......signing papers, passing physical/wee-wee test/road test getting copy of CDL/S.S. card. How can they do this while you're sitting at the kitchen table eating your Wheaties and talking from a 1000 mi away ? You do it in person at their office just as you would if you applied to Burger King down on the corner ! ! ! !

Yes but there are way to many horror stories of people quiting a job after being told everything will be fine just to be bounced because the recruiter got to many people into orientation. That's why when I do decide to pull the trigger with a new company (going back to driving after being out for 17 years in the medical field). I will be taking a leave of absence from my current job.
