    I carry a few straps with chain ends just for that reason. I only get them out when i need to hook a chain to extend it. They are just pricy enough over regular straps that i don't use them unless needed.

    Couldn't agree more.
    Step is like a Jenga Puzzle.
    No two loads ever load the same.
    I like your analogy, when doing step a driver does have to be able to think for himself.
    Unfortunately, in today's society, most young people have no clue how to do that.
