Mine wont switch to On-Duty from the Drive line unless i do it manually or shut the engine off. Stupid thing eats my drive hours if I don't keep an eye on it.

Bull crap! At least every few weeks in my world, 45 minutes [the 70] can mean the difference between a good plan coming together, or having to settle for a sucky plan B

Some of us (especially in the OTR reefer world) run on recap hours for 3+ weeks before a reset opportunity comes along, and run every single day, so you better believe every minute is valuable at some point because little wastes here and there add up over time.

That sucks that's the way it is but that's why the 60/70 limits need to go away.

Always log out of the elog system when your truck is in a so or on the hook. You should have an online access portal for your elogs that your can change in/off duty while away from the truck as well.

The thing is, having the computer automatically change your duty status, makes you forgetful about going off duty or sleeper. Or, if you do switch it to off duty, mine won't automatically switch it back to driving if the truck moves. I can't count the number of times I've been rolling down the road off duty for the last six hours.

I am able to edit mine... when the time comes that it can't be edited, I'll probably have to park the truck and find something else to do. The trucking industry is screwed… Just the way the Megas like it.

Wouldn't towing the truck be construed as driving? After all. The tires are moving. LOL

    Good info!
    .....
    11. What must a motor carrier do if there is an electronic logging device (ELD) malfunction?
If an ELD malfunctions, a motor carrier must:
    1. Correct, repair, replace, or service the malfunctioning ELD within eight days of discovering the
condition or a driver’s notification to the motor carrier, whichever occurs first; and
    2. Require the driver to maintain paper record of duty status (RODS) until the ELD is back in service

    ......
That means, that we should not throw away left over blank loose leaf pages yet.

Yes. Switch to paper (which you're required to carry any way).

Nobody is. But I like a good check, and a good check counts on me paying attention and doing my job.

As @ChaoSS already mentioned, log out of your e-log. The computer will still tell you it detects movement, and "please log in"....but it isn't messing with your logs, because nobody's logged in.
