One trainer does not make a "training company". Overly simplistic generalization there. And I don't even have a co-driver most of the time. Everything doesn't always have to be as negative as some people thing it is.

Hi Chinatown, I been following this Web even before getting my CDL, I went to Prime 1 yr now trying to take advance of my yr of experience to jump into a flatbed company...for multiple personal choice I'm debating between Melton an Boyd Bros...what company you think is better? Thx

Have you thought about hauling hay? Working for a farmer has benefits.Chinatown Thanks this.

You don't find jobs posted...any suggestions?

Hang out at sale barns. Cold call or go in person and introduce yourself. Leave resumes under the barn door or mailbox. Find local drivers and chat with them.
My first trucking job cowboy boots, wranglers and a button up wrangler shirt. Went to the office at the yard. Shook the owners hand, handed him fresh abstracts and asked when could I road test.
Showed up driving a 2008 F350 cclb with a 25' gooseneck deck over but that's beside the point.
EVERY SINGLE trucking company is hiring. They don't all advertise that's the difference.Tico79 Thanks this. -
Melton is good. I like Melton because it's irregular route and runs 48 states. Not stuck hauling the same stuff every day.
www.Daseke.com owns 11 flatbed companies to look over. Bulldog Express looks good on there, but so do most of their companies. They also own Boyd.Last edited: Sep 1, 2017

Here's a load of hay that smells and tastes like diesel fumes.
