1K take home should be the rock bottom minimum. If you aren't making that you need to go work for someone who pays or try harder or something.

The only times I have ever brought home less than four figures in a week is when I took time off.

 

Has it really gotten so bad out there that people aren't making a grand a week?That used to be 2-3 days work out in the EFS.

I noticed a big uptick in job postings around Corpus Christi lately, so I figured I would lurk around and see what people are saying about the EFS picking up. It appears that it's a waste of time. The companies doing anything out there are paying crap wages and working people to death. It's not worth it

 

are you like a driveaway driver or something ? i was looking for this type of work but most of the job openings i see for that type of work are all 1099 basically with no benefits. i talked to a driver in airport security one time that transported trucks and he was flying down to alabama or somewhere but he never gave alot of details on it but i assumed he made decent money. but i havent had any luck finding any good gigs like that im in va btw

 

I worked for them when they first started out. Good company revolutionay concept on hauling Frac sand. I had to quit them when the oilfields took a dump. They were very fair and the money was good.

 

How does the free housing work wife n in are thinking of Midland Odessa

 

Most companies that offer free housing are putting you up in what's known and as a "man camp", which basically is what it sounds like.

No women+no beer = no fun

You can rent a apartment in the Midessa area now for around $800/month 1bedroom just FYI

I just spoke with the recruiter in Houston about open positions out of the Kenedy yard. She stated that area pays almost as well as West TX. She claims you get the guarantee of $3,000 a month plus the load pay, averaging a total of between $5,500-$7,000 a month as a company driver. She mentioned the guarantee in Midland is $4,000/month, but did not say if the monthly total is more or they both average out around the same. (She was kinda hard to understand) Housing is offered in both locations and a 6/2 schedule is offered. To me, it sounds like you would more likely be at the $5,000 a month range. I don't see a $1,000/week load pay on top of the guaranteed $750. I could be wrong though. Anyone have more information, or actually work there?

 

If they are going to work you 72 hours a week then I would think $1750 is lousy.

$1750/72 is $24.30 an hour, and remember, only $750 of it is guaranteed which is 10.41/hr. You can add in the housing as comp if you like, but it still doesn't sound like a good deal.

To make this "maybe" worthwhile they would have to pay 100% Cadillac health care (medical, dental, optical, scrips for the whole family, with a low or zero deductible), and a strong ($80+) per diem on top of the extra $1000 for load pay. That would push your total comp to probably around $2800/wk. 2800/72 would take you up to $38.90/hr. I am basing this on $560 a week P/D plus another $200 or so a week for the cost of your health care and maybe $300 for the "free" housing, numbers which are likely conservative.

$38.90/hr. sounds a lot better, until you go back to the 72hrs a week thing. Then it ain't so great. And you aren't going to get to that number anyway. So you have to assume that you are doing a skilled labor job for probably about 1/2 of what the market would normally pay someone in your position, since you aren't being paid OT.

Another thing you have to consider is payroll deduction. At $1750 a week, your take-home is right around $1000 after FICA, SS, etc. It might be $1100-$1200 if you have low deductions.

Four-figs take-home per week ain't bad, but you have to go back to the 72hr work week thing. And if you sit a day or two, suddenly its $800 for the week, which is just a bit above the guarantee. And there are days you will sit, because that's the way it is in the oilfield sometimes.

I'm not sure that this gig would work for most people. If you are single, like to put in the hours and don't mind living in the man-camp for months on end then OK, but otherwise...

 

Here is the "secret" load pay for West TX. This is in addition to the $4,000 a month salary. We were told as some have mentioned that the company prefers to give loads to their 3rd party drivers though. I'm still in orientation and not sure if I'm going to stick it out as the place seems like a circus and no ringleader.
