    Hello everyone,
a bit of background info about me; i live in Va currently, i have a little over 1 year otr experience hauling 53' dry van with sleeper cab for a mega. i do not have any oil field experience but i learn quickly by doing. I'm looking for oil field jobs in west va with a preference near Charleston. most of the jobs I'm coming across online so far all either require either 1 year previous oil field experience or 18 months to 2 years cdl experience as a requirement. any suggestions on relatively decent companies that pay fairly well?

I would still apply for those. They could be desperate for drivers and you could fall into a job. Filling out an app doesn't take that much time and the worse that can happen is they say no.

Not much, to my knowledge, going on in Charleston. Most of the drilling activity is west of Clarksburg and in OH and Pa. There are a lot of suppliers in Weston/Buckhannon area not much further south.

Do you have any experience with a flatbed?
    How is your driving record?

You're not going to get an oil field gig near the capital more than likely. And frac is hit or miss all over the place.

If you want to stay in the area you might want to pull chemicals. Nitro/Institute has a lot of options there.

5 years ago Ergon hauled oil from around the Marcellus Shale to a refinery in/near Newell WV. It paid by the hour, with overtime . It was a good paying job, don't know if it is still there. Dont live around there.

I'm leased to Acme out of the Bridgeport, Wv terminal. I know he is looking for trucks. One ton, mini floats and tandems.

Most of the stuff I've seen in WV is around US-50 between Parkersburg and Clarksburg. I'm sure there's a lot more going on but that's a route I drive thru a lot, and I've seen the usual suspects that I see when I'm at home in Texas.

Schlumberger in strasburg oh will hire you. I wouldn't go there tho its only 14hr to start. The company i work for will hire you and put you up in a motel. We run all of Schlumberger's cement out to the rigs and load their silos

How much do you make per week doing that? Do they offer rotations?

    Brettj3876 Thanks this.
