I agree with both of you. Yes, when entering the highway we are to yield to the highway traffic.
Having said that there is an Unwritten rule that stems from driver courtesy that says you're supposed to move over a Lane when a truck is entering the highway.

Most drivers understand this rule but every once in awhile you get some pee brain that has to act like an idiot and refuse to move over.

The bad thing about a truck moving over a lane, is that the speed demons think they zip past you in the right lane because you are blocking their racetrack lane. If you aren't careful, and they get in your blindspot, it's allover.

True. But there's not much we can do about that. Except never change lanes again. Having said that, most people seem to forget in this day and age that even though people impatiently pass on the right all the time doesn't mean that it's always legal. All states have different clauses on this law. Most officers will let you get away with it unless they felt you did it in an unsafe matter and created a potentially dangerous situation. But they all agree that slower traffic should keep right and passing should be done on the left.

I've moved over for trucks or emergency vehicles parked on the shoulder only to have them stay in the right lane and then pass me afterward. That is just itching for trouble!

Hold your lane, driver...'BUT FOR EMERGENCY VEHICULAR TRAFFIC'... if at all possible. (Why I stay in the right lane hauling product, and watch for the reds and blues and triangles, and listen to the CB for incidents.)

So, they passed you....and? Everyone comes out alive. I agree with MOST of your post, but for, who CARES if they pass me later? I lost NOTHING. (S'PECIALLY my CDL..... my trophy and life.)
