Any of you guys in Richfield now? Are you circling the lot trying to find somewhere to park? Are you sitting in your bean bag chair naked eating Cheetos?
Weekend dispatch actually apologized for not loading me until tomorrow. Told Shane no sweat, I expected it. Got my Xbox hooked up now. Made my weekly Wally World run. I'm good to go.Last edited: Sep 3, 2017

Steelersjunkie forgive me for highjacking your thread, but I have some thoughts for those of you who are considering Millis Transfer for a CAREER change, I hope my story will offer some perspective and insight. I’m a former employee, and a graduate of Millis training institute. I’ve been gone from Millis for 11 months, and rarely does a day go by that I don’t regret how it all ended.
I went to the school at the Trenton terminal, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time with my fellow classmates, and Bill our instructor. It was a great experience, and it gave me the basics I needed to start my career in trucking. I then left out with my driver trainer, Curt S, who was great at teaching me how to expand on my driving, and the plethora of knowledge and skills needed to be competent and proficient at my new career. Everything was going great, and then I was hit with the unexpected news that my wife and I lost our care giver assistant, who helped us with the daily care needs for our disabled daughter. Our daughter is simply too heavy for my wife to lift, and getting her in and out of our vehicle, other needs, etc. So in an ill-timed manner I was unable to remain on the road with my trainer. At that time I had 6000 miles of drive time, and was well on my way to being in my own truck, but such is life. My wife and I spent the next 7 months going through seemingly endless paperwork and hoops to get in a program that would provide services we needed for our daughter. My plans were to return (although I knew the odds were against me doing so) to Millis. I reached out to Greg (head of training) and he referred me to Reid in HR with hopes of returning, but I’ve received no news as of yet.
For most of my life I owned my own successful/unsuccessful building maintenance business, and at times made some really good money, and other times…not so much. I went many years without benefits, and sporadic income. When my business finally went under, and I was no longer able to feasibly keep the doors open, I began searching for a career for the first time in my life. I had no college degree, although I had some college, and my service as a grunt in the Marine Corps, and of course owning a business as my only transferable skill sets. For me the thought of slowly dying behind a desk pushing a pencil, was inconceivable! I liked the income potential of trucking, and the freedom it can give you. After much research, and careful thought, my wife and I decided on Millis Transfer.
I can tell you from my short time there, that Millis Transfer is a GREAT place to hang your hat. Wonderful people, great equipment, guaranteed home time, benefits, you name it. The open road and freedom, and a true career.
I would encourage any of you considering Millis to make sure you have a help support system already in place at home, before you start your training with them, and avoid my mistake. If you have determined that trucking is indeed the career choice for you, and all of your things at home are in order, then go for it. It’s a great company!!
So the moral of the story..don't delay starting a career, because jobs are a dime a dozen, and pushing a pencil sucks!!
Peace.Last edited by a moderator: Sep 7, 2017
