For those with the x40 TND's... since they are locked down and no access to E-Mail...

What would be some of the reasons as a business owner you would like access to E-mail on the x40 models?

    Thanks,
    Mark

Being able to send and receive files on the RM directly. Like Mileage , fuel or custom POI files.

Mark, you need to tell RM to find a way for the 740 to connect to wifi networks that require a sign in via a browser. Most truck stops require you to sign in to their wifi this way and I don't want to burn up data on my phone to download a 400MB update sometimes.

Can the 740 update without a computer?

    > Yes - you don't use a computer on the 740. But it must be connected to WiFi. the 740 does all of its updates through WiFi, on the main screen, bottom left side you will see the Settings, Bluetooth, WiFi, and the Updates icon.
While connected to WiFi just tap the Updates and go in and check or do your updates.
    I normally check weekly.

    TNDT70 and TNDT80

I have had a few users contact me in regards to the TNDT 70 or 80 not able to route after updating the Maps. This usually means you got the Map update, but not the Truck GPS App update installed. Here is a simple way to correct your download.

Turn on Tablet – Main screen – upper right (9 squares) – tap on – (Make sure you are connected to a Hot Spot.)

    Find Rand McNally Launcher

Find “Info” on left side – tap on – On the new pop up window at bottom tap on “enable Configuration”

    Enter 0135

Now swipe up and you should see “Repair GPS Data” – tap on this

Click on Download on the new popup window

If you swipe down on upper left you will see the Data Verification in Progress. This may take about an hour.

Once done, right above the "Repair GPS Data" you will see File Verification. Do this also to make sure you don't have any missing files or invalid files. IF you do, run the Repair GPS Data again, then File Verification.

Then once done, turn Tablet off, wait 5 seconds, then boot up the Tablet again.

If any issues then contact me.

    Thanks
    Mark

Well life has kept me rather busy, so I haven't been back on here to talk about my 730. I was inspired to today. After owning probably 8 of the various units this one is absolutely the worst. I originally had low speaker volume, returned per marks suggestion. New unit was the same. I tried running it through the radio but finally just gave up hearing it. Then it developed a problem picking up satellites. Rand McNally support recommended walking around outside with it and turning it on. This did work but seems kinda silly to have to walk around in a parking lot with a truck gps. After not hearing any solutions to the problem and growing frustration with having to remove it from the dash to take a walk and some locking up issues, I sent it in for repairs. The only problem they fixed was the speaker, they said it was warped (must have been a chronic problem). Well I still have to take my gps for walks and the lock up/ restart issues have just gotten worse. Today I would have to reset the unit, and almost emediately it would restart itself probably 3 times then die and have to be reset. I finally gave up on it working after resetting over and over again. I was truly surprised that rand McNally thinks a gps that doesn't work inside a truck without first taking it for a walk is ok. I would be embarrassed if I worked for them. Enough is enough, I like it, but it's unusable. (Screwing around trying to get the decibel level measured, I missed my rebate period as well, UGH) It sounds like the Garmin dezel is more reliable. Good luck with your RM, their not apple or amazon that's for sure.

Ironically we also have an early model 730 that worked pretty well but the charger port won't make enough of a connection to charge anymore, they must have changed something in later models.

I am going to Start a conversation with you. GPS should have been checked.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Got a Dashcam update for my TND 80B the other day and it worked just fine, once. Went down the road and it would open and preview bot would not record. I blamed it on the SD Card and bought a new one(32gb). Funny, that worked once also. Today I have been experimenting and have found that the Dashcam works as expected as long as the GPS is off. Turn the GPS on and the GPS won't even load. Reboot the tablet and the GPS loads and works fine, but the dashcam won't work. Bottom line is I can use one or the other and then I have to reboot the tablet.

On another note, I opened up the motor Carrier Road Atlas the other to look at southern Ohio and only about the top quarter of the map showed up then it slowly started putting the same small square of map up over and over.

Thanks for the time you put in on this forum.
